Smart Growth + Housing That Works

Growth is an important part of any city’s long-term economic stability. When done well, it creates opportunity—supporting local jobs, strengthening the tax base, and giving families more choices about where and how they live. In Monroe, growth is not just inevitable; it’s already happening.

But growth without intention comes at a cost. Everyone in Monroe deserves the same opportunities to thrive, no matter what neighborhood they live in or what kind of home they can afford.

Thoughtful growth means making sure every neighborhood has access to basic resources: reliable trash and recycling pick-up, safe roads and crosswalks, public transportation, nearby groceries, and medical care.

We cannot continue to allow developers to maximize profits while communities absorb the consequences. Growth should serve every resident, not leave parts of Monroe behind. Too often, housing options are either expensive luxury homes or tightly packed cookie-cutter developments. Whether you can afford a large new home or an apartment on the edge of town, you should still receive the same level of services, safety, and opportunity as anyone else.

My goal is to make sure that as Monroe grows, existing residents aren’t pushed aside and new residents aren’t set up in communities that lack the resources necessary to achieve the quality of life they’ve worked for.
