A BETTER MONROE
Often overshadowed by national politics, decisions that shape daily life in Monroe are made right here at the local level.
I am running for Monroe City Council because I believe our city deserves leadership that puts people first, listens before making decisions that impact residents, and focuses on practical solutions instead of political noise.
I am an eighth-generation North Carolinian raised by a small business owner and a former cardiac ICU nurse. I grew up learning the value of hard work, integrity, and service. I watched my parents work long hours to provide for our family and to help others.
Those experiences taught me that leadership is about trust, respect, and responsibility. I believe those values should guide our local government and uplift the voices of everyday Monroe residents, ensuring decisions reflect the people they impact.
Over time, I have watched political theater take center stage while the real issues affecting our neighbors were pushed aside. Performative outrage, partisan posturing, and social media soundbites have replaced thoughtful discussion and collaborative problem-solving.
Monroe deserves better. I believe we can return to a style of local government rooted in civility, respect, and cooperation—one where leaders work together, even when they disagree, to serve the people who elected them.
Like many Monroe residents, I am unaffiliated with any political party. I am not interested in culture wars or party talking points. I am interested in safe streets, smart growth, transparent government, responsible budgeting, and policies that reflect the real needs of the people who live here.
Monroe is growing quickly, and growth can be a wonderful thing, but only if it is guided with intention. Too often, development happens without enough consideration for infrastructure, safety, affordability, or long-term quality of life. Roads, sidewalks, drainage, public transportation access, signage, and proximity to medical care should not be afterthoughts. In fact, they should be the foundations of a healthy community.
I believe everyone’s quality of life matters and every neighborhood deserves the opportunity to thrive. That means planning for seniors, families, young professionals, people with disabilities, renters, homeowners, and small business owners alike.
I am running because I no longer want to wait for “someone” to step up. Everyone has a role in shaping their community, and I am ready to fulfill mine. I believe local government works best when it reflects the voices of the community, not special interests or political ambition. I want Monroe to be a city where people feel heard, respected, and represented.
If elected, I will bring a calm, honest, and independent voice to Monroe City Council. I will ask hard questions, demand transparency, and always keep the focus on what truly improves daily life for Monroe residents. I would be honored to earn your trust and your support.
